Our Story
Katcha Local Government Area was established in 1981, carved out from the former Gbako Local Government. Operations began in 1982 with the establishment of our headquarters in Katcha Town, marking the beginning of a new era of localized governance and community development.
During the military administration, Katcha was temporarily re-merged with Bida Local Government. However, recognizing the unique needs and character of our community, Katcha was re-established as a separate Local Government Area in December 1996, restoring local autonomy and governance.
Today, Katcha LGA stands as a testament to resilience and progress, serving over 207,400 residents across 1,681 square kilometers of Niger State. Our commitment remains steadfast: to provide quality services, promote sustainable development, and preserve our rich cultural heritage while embracing modernization.
